FAQ

It is highly not recommended to do trenching operations yourself and to hire a professional company to assist.

Trenching services are among one of the most hazardous operations in construction. Several OSHA guidelines are put in place and must be followed in order to prevent injury and toxic mistakes.

There is a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 safety rule that serves as a guideline to prevent accidents and injuries.

5: Trenches that are 5 feed deep must have a protective system in place

4: Trenches greater than 4 feet, must have ladders for easy exit

3: Ladders must extend 3 feet above the excavation area

2: Materials must be 2 feet or more away from the edge of the excavation area

1: An additional or one person must be present at all times to monitor safety and hazards

One of the greatest risks to trenching is cave-ins or collapses. OSHA regulates professional companies like ours with the three S system.

  1. Slope or bench walls
  2. Shore trench walls with supports
  3. Shield trench walls with trench boxes
